Norhayati Binti Shafie graduated from International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) with
a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) (Hons). She underwent pupillage in the chambers of Mr Mohd Zaki
bin Abd Manan of Messrs Balendran Chong and was admitted and enrolled as an Advocate &
Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya on 14 September 2012. During her pupillage, she gained
experienced in handling and conducting civil suits relating to Running Down Matters, Tort,
Foreclosure Proceedings, Execution of Judgments such as Bankruptcy, Winding-Up and Writ
Seizure & Sale. She also did contentious and non-contentious work.
Norhayati then was offered to be as a Legal Assistant at Messrs Mohd Sofian & Co. During her
practise with Messrs Mohd Sofian & Co., she had gained experience in litigation, be it
contentious and non-contentious and panels for certain Banks and institutions such as Rhb
Bank Berhad (RHB), Cimb Bank Berhad (CIMB), Koperasi Bank Persatuan, Bank Pertanian
Malaysia Berhad, Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) and Perbadanan Pengurusan Air Pahang
(PAIP).

Norhayati had also gained experience in handling appeal matters and also various
interlocutory applications.
In mid July 2019, she joined Messrs C. Sukumaran & Co., and continues her practice in civil
and banking litigation.
